Role of Culture in HIV Discourse Published by Palgrave

Fresh copies of ‘HIV/AIDS in Memory’, Dr. Angelos Bollas & Dr. Alicia Villaneuva eds., editing by JM Agency.

It is always a proud moment for authors when freshly printed copies of their books arrive, and we would like to warmly congratulate Dr. Angelos Bollas and Dr. Alicia Castillo Villaneuva for editing and contributing to this volume, which examines the role of culture in shaping social, cultural and political discourses on HIV/AIDS.

Our compliments also to publishers Palgrave Macmillan. HIV/AIDS in Memory, Culture and Society is part of Palgrave’s ‘Palgrave Studies in Science and Popular Culture’ series.

Dr. Sarah Meehan O’Callaghan of JM Agency was responsible for the editing of the manuscript and she ensured it was delivered to the publisher on deadline.

Among the themes grappled with in the study include the role played by memory is shaping and moulding perceptions and discourse on HIV, and how ‘rewriting about the past also means assessing our responsibility towards the present and the potential of transmission to future generations, especially in times of pandemics’. Dr Angelos Bollas is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Maynooth University, and Dr. Alicia Castillo Villaneuva is currently Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies and Gender at Dublin City University.
