Former Communications Consultant Wows Kerry Literary Scene with Debut Collection

After a distinguished career in banking and later helping her clients polish their communication skills, Anne Donegan has been honing and perfecting her poems for a number of years. An integral figure in Kerry’s ‘Poetry in the Park’ group, Anne approached Jeremy a number of months ago, expressing a strong interest in doing a book together. Jeremy suggested our comprehensive Book Publishing Package to Anne, and since then Seashells has been in the making. All the JM Agency team are incredibly proud of the finished book.

At the book’s atmospheric and festive launch, at Listowel’s Kerry Writers” Museum, Jeremy paid tribute to Joanne for undertaking a diligent final proofread of the manuscript, and of course Parvathi for creating such a stunning design. Anne also thanked Jeremy and all at JM Agency for their professionalism and care.

Seashells has received a number of impressive endorsements since its publication.

Poet Eileen Sheehan, author of The Narrow Way of Souls, wrote, “The heartbeat of this collection is Donegan’s absolute love of her people and of the Irish landscape. The poems are celebratory but unsentimental … This collection is a fine addition to the rich literary heritage of North Kerry.”

Meanwhile, Maria Relihan, author of Skylark, remarked, “The poems meander from the verdant Limerick countryside to the allure of the Kerry seashore, where the poet finds time for seashells. This poetry collection has beauty and pathos.”

While renowned poet Matt Mooney praised Anne Donegan’s collection for being “engrossing in its storytelling style” and for her capacity to “bring characters to life on the page”.

The book was officially launched by Joanna Keane O’Flynn, the daughter of the late playwright John B. Keane, who commended the poet for her craftsmanship and depth of meaning.

Anne’s husband, Mike, and daughters, Kate and Anna, as well as her grandchildren and extended family, were also in attendance at what was a festive and bustling book launch, with attendees serenaded by music from pianist and violinist Mick McGann-Jones.
