Kerry Christmas Book Fair 2019 (Inaugural Event)

Some months back, a client suggested creating a Kerry Christmas book fair in Listowel. It stuck me as a wonderful idea. Not only would it give the many good, contemporary writers living in Kerry an opportunity to sell their books and meet the reading public, but it was an opportunity to create a wonderful, festive event.

I am so glad to announce we will now do just that, this December 14th, in Kerry Writers’ Museum; the inaugural Kerry Christmas Book Fair. It will do exactly what was initially dreamed; it will give brilliant contemporary authors a chance to a shine; to read their work, sell their books and meet the public. It will be an event run by writers and for writers, and it is happening at Christmas.

Therefore, join us on the 14th December to see a wonderful collection of book of all types and genres; fiction & non-fiction,poetry & prose; history, essays and memoir; a wonderful kaleidoscope of contemporary literary talent. There will also be readings, recitals and musical performances. Food and drink will be provided.

If you are a writer and would like to be involved in the Kerry Christmas Book Fair, then please get in touch.

We operate a 100% inclusive policy. If you have a book/books, and believe the Kerry reading public would love to read it, then we want to hear from you.

Below is my open invitation to writers for participation in the forthcoming fair.

All you need to do is email me back to REGISTER your interest, and I will contact you with details.

Looking forward!

Jeremy

Dear Writers of Listowel, Kerry, Ireland and beyond,

I hope I find you in good spirits. My name is Jeremy Murphy, an editor and literary agent based in Ireland and living in Kerry.

I am very passionate about organising a Kerry book fair, in Listowel this Christmas.

A Christmas book fair, showcasing Kerry’s wonderful literary talent, would be a wonderful addition to Kerry and Listowel’s Christmas activities.

It would give local authors an opportunity to showcase their talents and provide the people of Listowel, Kerry and beyond with a colourful, vibrant and unique event.

At the fair, authors would meet and engage with the local reading public; tell the local world about their books and sell them to the grateful public.

Kerry Writers’ Museum have kindly agreed to the use of their fantastic venue, and the fair will take place the Saturday the 14th December, 2019 – exact times TBC.

However, I need your help. This event cannot happen without the participation of you, the writers. This event is all about the poets, historians, novelists, storytellers and writers of Listowel, Kerry and beyond.

It is designed to bring you into the centre of Listowel at Christmas, so you can share your work and engage that local readership.

Therefore, if you are interested in participating, please contact me to REGISTER (email is jm.murphy@outlook.ie), followed by you name and I will register you.

If possible, detail how many books you will be bringing to the fair to sell and whether you are willing to meet the public face to face – although this is not necessary, this can be ascertained later.

Participating in the Kerry Book Fair will not only give writers a fantastic opportunity to sell their books, it will open up other promotional and marketing opportunities.

In the months leading up to the fair, I will run a Christmas Book Fair feature on my social media pages, which details the life and work of one the writers participating in the fair.

I hope you are as passionate about this idea as I am, and if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours Faithfully,

Jeremy Murphy
