Maria’s Book Gets Presidential Approval

Jeremy was honoured to attend the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the Coolmine Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centre in Dublin last week. Jeremy was invited by JM Agency client Ms Maria Colgan, who has been working with Jeremy and Amanda on a number of promising manuscripts, most recently ‘Conversations with Gary’, a startingly original tribute to her late brother Gary Colgan. Gary received life-transforming support and treatment at the Coolmine Centre, an experience which, along with others, is documented in ‘Conversations-‘, a series of humorous, realistic and insightful stories, anecdotes and affirmations.

The Coolmine anniversary celebration was attended by HE Michael D Higgins, President of Ireland (Uachtarán na hÉireann). The President was very supportive of Maria’s book, and intrigued by her decision to write about her late brother in such an ironic and artful way.

Maria Colgan is a digital marketing consultant, meditation teacher and proud Dubliner, who has excelled in a variety of marketing, communications and creative roles. Never one to shy from a challenge, Maria entered the fast-paced financial services industry upon graduation, where she excelled in marketing and communication roles for Irish Life and Bloxham Stockbrokers. From finance to app development, and a digital marketing management role at Tapadoo, Ireland’s leading mobile app developer.

It was Maria’s interest in art and creativity, and the psychology of self-love, that inspired her to found ‘Just for Today’, a publishing company specialising in bespoke journals for women struggling with self-confidence.

Drawing on her years of experience in marketing and creative consultancy, Maria’s vision is to blend ‘Conversations-‘ with her late brother’s self-published book, ‘Written in Stone’, in a visually impactful way, that draws on her experience in creative direction and marketing. She is eager to hand the project over to a seasoned and committed publisher, with the expertise to bring the ideas to fruition.

Jeremy is currently working with Maria on applying the finishing editorial touches to the draft for publishers to consider. Maria’s late brother Gary was also featured in the ’50 Faces of Coolmine’ exhibition, a beautiful and heartfelt visual tribute to many of the people who have ‘been touched by Coolmine’s impact’. Maria’s book, when published, will serve as another beautiful tribute to Gary, as well as an invitation to readers to experience a slice of humanity in an honest, humane and humorous way.
